Vision Statement
The Ladies of SCI began as a group of ladies with loved ones incarcerated at Stanley Correctional Institution. As loved ones we could no longer accept how the WI DOC has mislead the general public, and our legislators, regarding the conditions of our prisons and the reasons for them. The excuse of short staffing is just that, an excuse. The deteriorating conditions are due to excessive sentences, lack of drug treatment, lack of mental health services, lack of programming, lack of proper reentry services, revocation policies, and truth in sentencing. In place of evidence based practices proven to reduce recidivism, the WI DOC uses punitive and arbitrary punishments to lock people down in cells, and suspend the little programming or help that is available. The problem isn't short staffing or underpaid employees, the problem is the poor decisions Wisconsin has made under past administrations, and nothing has been done to fix it. Our mission is to spread awareness to people in our communities and to our legislators; exposing the grim truths, and advocating for change with innovative solutions.
Mission Statement
The mission of Ladies for Solutions, Change, and Innovation is to advance meaningful and sustainable change within Wisconsin's criminal-legal landscape. Our mission is not merely to imagine, but to actively realize a reality where the criminal-legal system achieves public safety, advances restorative justice principles, and authentically promotes community engagement and integration.
